Dress Code

Training clinics

Beige jodhpurs must be worn, RMPC polo shirts with an RMPC sweatshirt if necessary – no hoodies allowed. Coats (if needed) should be dark coloured without a hood. Hat silks should be plain black or navy blue, colours may be worn for XC only.

Working Rallies

Beige jodhpurs, white shirt with PC tie/stock and hacking jackets with PC Badge and Felt must be worn. Hat silks should be plain black or navy blue.

Summer Rallies 

Beige jodphurs must be worn, RMPC polo shirts with an RMPC sweatshirt if necessary – no hoodies allowed. Coats (if needed) should be dark coloured without a hood. Hat silks should be plain black or navy blue, colours may be worn for XC only.

Hats

It is mandatory for all Members to wear a protective helmet at all times when mounted with a chinstrap fastened. For all XC riding (inc. Eventing, TET, Horse Trials), Pony Racing and Mounted Games – whetherit be training, rallies or competitions – a jockey skull cap must be worn with NO FIXED PEAK. A removable hat silk may be worn. Please refer to the official PC Hat Rule (Click Here) for current standards.

Body Protectors

The use of a body protector is compulsory for ALL XC riding and Pony Racing whether it be training or competing. Please refer to the official PC Body Protector Rule (Click Here) for current standards.

Rider Clothing

Jodhpurs should be plain in beige, cream or fawn. White is permitted for Show Jumping competitions only.

Boots must be standard riding or jodhpur boots in black or brown leather with a well defined square heel and fairly smooth sole. Gaiters should match boot colour.

Shirts should be white with a collar. When attending Mounted Games competitions and XC event long sleeves must be worn.

Ties & Stocks must be in Pony Club colours.

Gloves must be worn for Dressage, they should be light coloured. Gloves are also recommended for Show Jumping and Cross Country.

Plaiting Ponies/horses MUST be plaited for Tests and Dressage competitions (inc. ODEs).

Hair In the interests of safety, long hair must be secured appropriately and in a hairnet.

Jewellery is NOT ALLOWED for safety reasons, other than medical jewellery, a wristwatch, a stock pin(must be removed for Cross Country) worn horizontally or a tie clip.

Saddlery
Only saddlery permitted in the official Pony Club Rule Books may be used at both Rallies and training activities relating to that sport and must be black or brown. Saddlery should be clean and fit for purpose – stitching should be checked regularly. 
Stirrup Irons must have 7mm (¼”) clearance on either side of the boot.

Saddle Cloths must be plain black, brown, white or navy. Team colours displaying the appropriate branch logo are permitted.

Bits must adhere to the individual Sport Rule Book for each sport – please refer to current Sport Rule Books (link below) for guidance.
